How Inconel 600 / 601 Flanges Are Manufactured
Kalpataru Piping Solution manufactures Inconel 600 and 601 flanges through a controlled hot-forging process. Selected nickel-chromium alloy billets are heated to 1,050–1,200°C and forged to near-net shape using hydraulic presses.
Each forging is then CNC-machined to ASME B16.5 dimensional tolerances, followed by solution annealing at 980°C for Inconel 600 and 1,150°C for Inconel 601, and rapid water quenching to achieve optimal mechanical properties.
Final inspection includes Positive Material Identification (PMI), ultrasonic testing, and hydrostatic pressure testing as per client specifications to ensure defect-free performance in critical applications.
Quality Assurance for Inconel 600 / 601 Flanges
All Inconel flanges are supplied with full traceability and compliance documentation. Our quality control process ensures every product meets international standards and project-specific requirements.
Standard Testing Includes:
- Positive Material Identification (PMI)
- Hardness Testing (Rockwell / Brinell)
- Dimensional Inspection as per ASME B16.5
- Hydrostatic Pressure Testing
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Third-party inspection is available from BV, TUV, SGS, and Lloyd’s Register upon request.
Material Test Certificates (MTC) are provided as per EN 10204 3.1 with every dispatch.

Applications & Benefits of Inconel 600 / 601 Flanges
Explore the wide-ranging industrial uses and advantages including corrosion resistance and thermal stability offered by Inconel 600 flanges and Inconel 601 flanges:
- Aerospace Engineering: Inconel 600 and 601 flanges are used in jet engine exhaust systems and airframe components where temperatures exceed 1,000°C and oxidation resistance is non-negotiable.
- Petrochemical Plants: These flanges connect high-pressure pipework in refineries and ethylene crackers, resisting sulfidation and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking in process streams.
- Nuclear Energy Sector: Inconel 600 flanges are a qualified material for nuclear steam supply systems, valued for their low cobalt content and resistance to reactor coolant corrosion.
- Industrial Pressure Vessels: Alloy 601 flanges seal high-temperature pressure vessels in heat treatment furnaces and chemical reactors, maintaining integrity across thermal cycling.
- Construction & Mechanical Systems: Used in high-temperature ducting, stack liners, and exhaust manifolds where carbon steel flanges would fail within months.
