Monel 400 Tubes Stockist & Supplier in India

Kalpataru Piping Solution is a Mumbai-based manufacturer, stockist and exporter of Monel 400 tubes in both seamless and welded forms, supplied to ASTM B165 / ASME SB165 (seamless) and ASTM B730 / ASME SB730 (welded) standards. Monel 400 (UNS N04400) is a nickel-copper alloy prized for its outstanding resistance to seawater, brine and reducing acids, which makes it a standard choice for marine, chemical-processing and offshore service. We hold ready stock across a wide size range and also supply matching Monel 400 tube fittings, Monel 400 needle valves and Monel 400 flanges, so you can source a complete piping package from a single supplier. This page sits within our wider Monel tubes and steel tubes ranges.

Because nickel and copper are mutually soluble in all proportions, Monel 400 is a single-phase solid-solution alloy that can only be strengthened by cold working — it cannot be age-hardened like Monel K500. In the annealed condition it is essentially non-magnetic, though cold work or welding can make it slightly magnetic; a post-weld anneal restores the original properties. We supply Monel 400 round, square, rectangular, capillary, instrumentation and high-pressure tubing, with finished tubes tested by transverse tension, guided-bend and hydrostatic methods before dispatch.

Monel 400 Seamless Tubes vs Welded Tubes

Seamless tubes are produced from solid bar stock by extrusion and cold drawing, leaving no weld seam. With no line of weakness along the wall, they are the preferred option for high-pressure, high-purity and safety-critical service such as instrumentation, hydraulics and heat-exchanger duty. Welded tubes (ERW / EFW) are formed by rolling strip or plate and welding the longitudinal seam, then sizing and annealing. They are more economical and well suited to lower-pressure, structural and large-diameter applications. Both variants meet the same UNS N04400 chemistry and the relevant ASTM / ASME standards, so the choice usually comes down to operating pressure, criticality and budget.

Monel Alloy 400 Tube Equivalent Standard Grade

Monel 400 is referenced under several international designations. If your drawing or enquiry uses any of the equivalents below, we can supply tubing to the same chemistry and properties.

Monel 400 Tubes Chemical Composition

Monel 400 contains a minimum of 63% nickel and 28–34% copper, with small additions of iron, manganese and carbon. This nickel-copper balance is what gives the alloy its characteristic resistance to seawater and reducing acids.

Monel 400 Tubing Mechanical Properties

In the annealed condition, Monel 400 tubing offers a minimum yield strength of 240 MPa, minimum tensile strength of 550 MPa and elongation around 40%, combined with a high melting point of roughly 1350 °C.
Density Melting Point Yield Strength (0.2% Offset) Tensile Strength Elongation

Monel 400 vs Monel K500 — Key Differences

Monel K500 (UNS N05500) is an age-hardened version of Monel 400, with roughly three times the yield strength thanks to additions of aluminium and titanium. Choose Monel 400 where corrosion resistance in seawater and chemical processing is the priority; choose Monel K500 where high strength and wear resistance matter, such as pump shafts and fasteners. For higher-temperature or more aggressively oxidising service, customers often compare Monel 400 against Inconel 625 tubes and Hastelloy C276 tubes.

Industries We Supply Monel 400 Tubes To

Our Monel 400 tubing serves a broad customer base across process, marine and energy sectors:
  • Oil & Gas: downhole tubing, sour-service lines and offshore platform piping.
  • Marine & Desalination: seawater heat exchangers, condensers and brine handling, where Monel 400 resists pitting at all temperatures.
  • Chemical Processing: handling of hydrofluoric, sulphuric and hydrochloric acids in non-oxidising, deaerated conditions.
  • Power Generation: feedwater heaters and condenser tubing.
  • Pulp, Paper & Pharmaceuticals: corrosion-resistant process lines.
For more aggressive or higher-temperature duty we also supply Incoloy 825 tubesCopper Nickel 90/10 tubes and Nickel 200 tubes.

Monel 400 Tube Corrosion Resistance

Monel 400 offers excellent resistance to seawater and marine atmospheres (no pitting at any temperature), hydrofluoric acid (up to 85% concentration at room temperature), dilute non-oxidising sulphuric acid, dilute non-aerated hydrochloric acid, and alkalis and caustic solutions. It is not recommended for nitric acid, oxidising acid mixtures or moist chlorine gas, where the high copper content makes it vulnerable.

Monel 400 Tube Testing & Inspection

Every batch of Monel 400 tubing is supplied with full documentation and is tested before dispatch. Standard testing includes transverse tension testing, guided-bend (flattening/flaring) testing and hydrostatic testing, with non-destructive options such as eddy-current and ultrasonic examination available on request. Positive Material Identification (PMI) and dimensional inspection confirm conformity to UNS N04400 chemistry and the required ASTM / ASME standard, and material is supplied with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates.

FAQs About Monel 400 Tubes

Monel 400 seamless tubes are extruded from solid bar stock and contain no weld seam, making them suitable for high-pressure and critical service. Welded tubes (ERW/EFW) are formed from strip and are economical for lower-pressure or structural applications. Both conform to ASTM B165 / ASME SB165.

Monel 400 equivalent grades are UNS N04400, WNR 2.4360, AFNOR NU-30M, EN NiCu30Fe, JIS NW 4400, and BS NA 13.

Monel 400 tube price in India depends on size, wall thickness, and order quantity. Contact Kalpataru Piping Solution for the latest price list, including ASTM B165 seamless and ASTM B730 welded tube pricing.

Yes. Monel 400 exhibits exceptional resistance to seawater and brine at all temperatures, making it a standard choice for marine heat exchangers, desalination equipment, and offshore pipework.

Monel 400 instrumentation tubing is supplied to ASTM B165 (seamless) and ASME SB165 standards. Capillary and high-pressure variants are available in ODs from 0.5 mm upward.

Monel 400 retains good mechanical strength up to approximately 480 °C (900 °F). For service above 800 °F (427 °C), slight magnetic changes may occur due to precipitation reactions. Consult your engineer for high-temperature design limits.
