Kalpataru Piping Solution manufactures and supplies UNS C17200 Beryllium Copper Round Bar to industrial buyers in India and globally. Also known as Copper Beryllium Alloy 25, CDA 172, and CuBe2 under the European designation, this alloy combines the highest strength available in the copper family with good electrical and thermal conductivity, non-magnetic properties, and outstanding resistance to wear, fatigue, and galling. Beryllium Copper C17200 round bar achieves tensile strength comparable to high-strength steel while retaining the corrosion resistance and conductivity characteristics of copper, a combination not matched by any other commercial copper alloy.

C17200 beryllium copper rod stock is maintained in annealed (A, TB00) and precipitation hardened temper conditions, commonly designated AT and HT. The AT condition (solution annealed and precipitation hardened from the A temper) is the most widely specified grade for high-strength applications. The HT condition (cold-worked and then precipitation hardened) delivers the highest hardness and strength available in this alloy family. As a specialist Beryllium Copper C17200 bar supplier, Kalpataru can supply certified material per ASTM B196, AMS 4650, AMS 4651, AMS 4533, AMS 4534, and MIL C 21657 to your specific temper requirement, diameter, and cut length.

ASTM B196 beryllium copper round bar is our core specification product, supplied in sizes from 3mm to 800mm diameter and lengths from 1000mm to 6000mm. Mill test certificates, PMI reports, and EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 certificates are available with every supply. As an established Beryllium Copper round bar exporter, we ship to buyers across the Middle East, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Americas from ready stock in Mumbai. Applications of UNS C17200 Beryllium Copper Round Bar

Alloy 25 round bar is specified for applications requiring the unique combination of high mechanical strength, good electrical and thermal conductivity, non-magnetic properties, and non-sparking characteristics:

  • Oil and Gas: Drill collars, bushings, landing gear, and downhole wireline equipment where non-sparking and non-magnetic properties are mandatory. C17200 is compliant with NACE MR0175 for sour service.
  • Aerospace and Defense: Precision bushings, bearings, landing gear components, and non-magnetic structural parts where steel cannot be used due to magnetic interference.
  • Electronics and Electrical: Connector springs, contact tips, switch components, and relay springs where high fatigue life and good electrical conductivity must coexist.
  • Mold and Die Making: Injection mold inserts, cavity sections, and cores where high thermal conductivity reduces cycle times and high hardness resists wear.
  • Resistance Welding: Electrode holders, shank assemblies (RWMA Class 4), and spot welding components where high strength and moderate conductivity are both required.
  • Industrial Machinery: Heavy-duty bearings, bushings, cam followers, and gears in applications where galling resistance under high load is critical.

Beryllium Copper Safety Note

Beryllium and beryllium-containing alloys, including C17200 copper beryllium rod, require proper handling precautions during machining, grinding, or welding. Beryllium dust and fumes can cause serious respiratory disease (chronic beryllium disease, or CBD) if inhaled. Dry grinding or machining without respiratory protection is prohibited. All machining should be done with adequate wet methods or dust-controlled environments, in compliance with local occupational health and safety regulations. Finished beryllium copper bars in solid form (as supplied) do not present a respiratory hazard and can be handled normally. Contact Kalpataru for full MSDS documentation with every shipment.

Testing & Certifications for Beryllium Copper C17200 Bar

  • Chemical analysis (OES/XRF) against ASTM B196 composition limits
  • Mechanical testing (tensile, hardness, elongation) to confirm temper properties
  • Positive Material Identification (PMI) on every lot
  • EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates from NABL approved laboratory as standard
  • EN 10204 3.2 (third party witnessed inspection) available on request via TUV, BV, Lloyds, SGS

FAQ's About UNS C17200 Beryllium Copper Round Bar

UNS C17200, also known as Alloy 25, CDA 172, or CuBe2, is the highest-strength commercial copper alloy available. It combines the corrosion resistance and conductivity of copper with strength levels comparable to high-alloy steel, achieved through age-hardening (precipitation hardening) heat treatment.

AT temper (TF00) is produced by solution annealing followed by precipitation hardening, giving tensile strength in the range of 1172 to 1379 MPa. HT temper (TH04) is produced by cold-working followed by precipitation hardening, giving the highest available strength of 1241 to 1448 MPa with slightly lower ductility. Most high-strength applications specify AT; HT is used where maximum hardness is needed.

Yes. C17200 has a magnetic permeability of less than 1.001, making it non-magnetic and suitable for instrumentation and MRI adjacent applications where steel would cause interference. It is also non-sparking, which makes it the preferred alloy for tools and components used in explosive atmospheres such as oil refineries and mining.

Primary applications include oil and gas drill collars and downhole tools (non-sparking, non-magnetic requirement), aerospace bushings and bearings, electronic spring contacts, mold and die components, resistance welding electrode holders (RWMA Class 4), and heavy-duty industrial bearings where galling resistance is critical.

Finished beryllium copper bar stock in solid form is safe to handle normally. Beryllium dust generated by machining, grinding, or welding is a respiratory hazard and subject to occupational health regulations. Always use wet machining methods or dust extraction systems and appropriate personal protective equipment when machining this material. MSDS documentation is available from Kalpataru with every supply.

Standard supply includes EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates with full chemical analysis, mechanical testing results, and heat/lot traceability. EN 10204 3.2 third party witnessed inspection is available via TUV, Bureau Veritas, Lloyds, and SGS.
