Copper Shims Supplier in India

Copper Shims

If you’ve ever tried to bed down a busbar connection or level a heat exchanger baffle, you already know why copper shows up so often on the shim list — nothing else moves heat and current the way it does. That’s really the whole reason Kalpataru Piping Solution keeps a running stock of copper. We’re a Mumbai-based copper shims supplier and exporter, and our shims are cut from certified C10200 and C11000 electrolytic-grade copper as well as Beryllium Copper, in sheets, coils, foils and ready-to-fit precut pieces. If your job needs a burr-free, exact-thickness shim rather than a slab of coil stock you’ll cut yourself, that’s what we do all day. We also stock the neighbouring grades — brass shims for lighter electrical work, ready-cut precut shims for machinery alignment, and dedicated alignment shims — so if copper turns out not to be the right call for your application, we can point you to what is. Below you’ll find our copper shim specifications, standard sizes, weight chart, grades and pricing pointers, written the way we’d explain it over a phone call rather than a marketing brochure.

What is Copper shim?

Copper shim stock does one job better than almost any other metal: it moves heat and electrical current with very little resistance, and it does that while staying soft enough to conform to slightly uneven surfaces. We supply copper shims as flat sheets, coils, foils, blanks and precut pieces, in electrolytic tough-pitch grades (C10200, C11000) and in Beryllium Copper (C17200) where strength and non-sparking behaviour matter more than raw conductivity. Cutting is done by slitting, CNC laser, stamping or waterjet depending on thickness and the finish you need.

Applications / Industries Served

  • Electrical & Grounding Systems: Reliable, low-resistance contact for busbars, earthing straps and switchgear connections.
  • Heat Exchangers & Cooling Systems: Fills tube-sheet and baffle clearances where thermal transfer efficiency depends on intimate metal-to-metal contact.
  • Electronics & Instrumentation: Heat sinks, EMI shielding and non-magnetic shimming for sensitive components.
  • Transformer & Panel Assembly: Spacing and contact shims where consistent conductivity is as important as fit.
  • Aerospace & Explosive-Safe Zones: Beryllium Copper shims for spark-free, non-magnetic applications in fuel systems and precision assemblies.
  • Architectural & Decorative Trim: Copper’s natural finish and formability suit cladding, moulding and trim shim work.
  • Marine & Industrial Equipment: Corrosion resistance in humid or saline environments where steel would need extra protection.

Non-magnetic

Cost

Lower, more economical for bulk use

Higher — reserved for precision or safety-critical work

Typical application

Electrical, thermal and general shimming

Aerospace, springs, explosive-safe and high-fatigue applications

Manufacturing Process & Quality Control

  1. Material Sourcing & Verification — Copper coil and sheet is sourced from approved mills with full mill test certification and chemical composition traceability.
  2. Precision Cutting — Sheets, coils and precut shims are slit, laser-cut, stamped or waterjet-cut to the required size, thickness and profile.
  3. Surface & Temper Selection — Finish (2B, No.1, satin) and temper (soft through spring hard) are matched to the intended application before dispatch.
  4. Dimensional & Quality Inspection — Each batch is checked for thickness consistency, flatness and, where specified, electrical conductivity.
  5. Packing & Documentation — Shims are interleaved, moisture-protected and packed for domestic or export freight, with mill certificates included.
  6. Global Dispatch — Orders move out to customers across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas through our regular logistics partners.

Certifications & Standards

  • ASTM B152 / ASME SB152 material standard compliance
  • EN 10204 / 3.1B Mill Test Certificate with raw-material traceability
  • Third-party inspection available on request (SGS, BV, TUV, Lloyd’s and equivalent)
  • Chemical composition and conductivity verification on request
  • Dimensional and flatness checks on every produced batch

FAQ’s About Copper Shims

C10200 (OFHC) is oxygen-free copper with slightly higher conductivity and purity, typically chosen for electronics and vacuum-sensitive work. C11000 (ETP) is the standard electrolytic tough-pitch grade used for most general electrical and shimming applications, and it costs less.

Yes, within limits. Copper resists heat well and retains its shape and strength up to roughly 200°C in continuous service, and it can handle brief excursions higher than that. For sustained high-temperature duty above that range, nickel alloys like Inconel are usually a better fit.

Beryllium Copper is alloyed and heat-treated to achieve strength levels closer to spring steel while staying non-magnetic and spark-free — that processing, plus the cost of the beryllium alloying element itself, is what pushes the price above plain copper.

From roughly 0.05 mm foil up to 8 mm plate, in coil, sheet, strip, blank, ring or precut form. If you need a size outside our standard range, tell us the application and we’ll quote a custom run.

Yes. Share a DXF, DWG or PDF drawing with your required grade, thickness and quantity, and we’ll cut it using laser, stamping or waterjet depending on tolerance and batch size.

Yes, we regularly export copper shims to the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America, complete with mill certificates and export-ready packaging.
