Monel 400 Rectangular Tubes are being controlled for better strength at temperatures which would be in excess of about 800 Deg F. Monel 400 tubes can become slightly magnetic after cold working or welding. Post-weld annealing restores non-magnetic properties. Monel 400 vs Monel K500 — Key Differences
Monel K500 (UNS N05500) is an age-hardened variant of Monel 400 with approximately 3× higher yield strength, achieved by additions of aluminium and titanium. Use Monel 400 for corrosion resistance in seawater and chemical processing; use Monel K500 where high strength and wear resistance are required, such as pump shafts and fasteners.

Monel 400 Tube Corrosion Resistance
Monel 400 offers excellent resistance to: seawater and marine atmospheres (no pitting at any temperature), hydrofluoric acid (up to 85% concentration at room temperature), sulfuric acid (dilute, non-oxidising), hydrochloric acid (dilute, non-aerated), alkalis and caustic solutions. It is NOT recommended for: nitric acid, oxidising acid mixtures, or moist chlorine gas.
