Kalpataru Piping Solution supplies instrumentation ball valves for quick quarter-turn isolation on instrument and small-bore lines, in the grade range corrosive service demands. The busiest line is the Hastelloy C276 ball valves for aggressive acid and chloride duty, alongside stainless steel 316 ball valves for general instrument service. A ball valve gives a tight, fast on/off shut-off with a simple quarter-turn, which is why it is the standard isolation valve on gauge, transmitter and sampling hook-ups. The grade is chosen for the process chemistry, from stainless steel 304 ball valves for general work up to Alloy 20 ball valves and Hastelloy for acids, and it pairs with the matching instrumentation tube fittings so the hook-up stays one material.

2-Way, 3-Way & Configurations

Instrumentation ball valves come in 2-way for straight isolation and 3-way for diverting or selecting between two lines, in one-piece, two-piece and trunnion designs. Small-bore sizes suit tubing connections directly, with NPT, BSP or compression ends, and panel-mount and direct-mount options fit gauge and manifold assemblies. Where Ball Valves Fit in the Hook-Up

A ball valve is the isolation point of an instrument hook-up. Paired with the instrumentation tube fittings and, where fine control is needed, a needle valve, it makes up the run from the process take-off to the gauge or transmitter. Keeping the ball valve, the fittings and any manifold to one grade means the hook-up does not mix metals at a joint. Quality, Testing & Certification

Every ball valve is pressure tested, seat and shell, before dispatch, and each order carries an EN 10204 mill test certificate for the body material with heat-number traceability. Positive material identification confirms the grade, NACE MR0175 compliance for sour service and third-party witness through BV, SGS or TUV are arranged at order stage, and valves are cleaned and packed for instrument service. Common stainless valves ship quickly; Hastelloy, Alloy 20 and nickel grades are confirmed on enquiry. It is the quarter-turn isolation valve on an instrument hook-up. A ball with a bore through it rotates 90 degrees to open or close the line, giving a fast, tight shut-off for gauges, transmitters and sampling points. Its simplicity and tight seal make it the standard isolation valve on small-bore instrument and process tubing.
The number of ports and what they do. A 2-way ball valve simply isolates a straight line, open or closed. A 3-way ball valve has three ports and an L or T bore, so it can divert flow between two lines or select one of two sources, which is used for sampling, switching and calibration on instrument hook-ups.
Match it to the process chemistry. Stainless 304 and 316 cover general instrument service, Hastelloy C276 handles wet chlorine and mixed acids, Alloy 20 suits sulphuric acid, Nickel 200 suits caustic service, copper nickel suits seawater, and PTFE is for chemically inert lines. The valve should match the grade of the tubing and fittings in the hook-up.
