Carbon Steel Valves

Kalpataru Piping Solutions is a leading carbon steel valve manufacturer and exporter headquartered in Mumbai, India. We supply a comprehensive range of carbon steel valves engineered to withstand the demanding pressure, temperature, and corrosion conditions of oil & gas, refinery, power generation, petrochemical, and water treatment industries worldwide.

Our carbon steel gate valves, globe valves, check valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, and needle valves are manufactured from premium carbon steel alloys — ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A105, ASTM A182 F11/F22/F5/F91, and ASTM A352 LCB/LCC — and tested in full compliance with API 598, API 600, API 602, and ASME B16.34. Every valve ships with an EN 10204 Type 3.1 or 3.2 mill test report (MTR) and a comprehensive third-party inspection dossier.

With over two decades of piping solutions expertise, Kalpataru has exported valves to more than 50 countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Germany, Singapore, and Australia. Our in-house machining, NDE, and hydrostatic test facilities ensure every carbon steel valve meets the tightest dimensional and metallurgical tolerances before shipment.

Kalpataru can supply valves with extended bonnets for insulated pipelines, and low-temperature extensions for cryogenic service down to −46°C. All bonnet-to-body bolting uses ASTM A193 B7 / A194 2H studs and nuts as standard, with A320 L7 / L7M available for low-temperature or sour service.

Industrial Applications of Carbon Steel Valves

Carbon steel valves are the backbone of global process piping infrastructure. Their combination of high tensile strength, wide pressure-temperature range, weldability, and cost-effectiveness makes them the preferred choice across virtually every heavy industry.

Oil & Gas — Upstream, Midstream & Downstream

In upstream production, carbon steel gate valves and ball valves provide reliable wellhead and manifold isolation in high-pressure sour-gas environments (NACE MR0175). Midstream pipeline operators specify ASTM A216 WCB check valves to prevent backflow in trunk and distribution lines. Downstream refineries rely on API 600 WCB gate valves in class 300–2500 for crude distillation, vacuum, FCC, and hydrocracker unit block-valve service.

Power Generation

Coal, gas, and nuclear power stations use A217 WC6 and WC9 globe valves for main steam and reheater throttling service at temperatures up to +595°C. A105 forged globe valves and gate valves handle boiler feedwater, attemperator, and drain lines. Cast-steel check valves protect feed pumps against reverse rotation.

Petrochemical & Chemical Processing

Ethylene crackers, ammonia plants, methanol synthesis, and polymer processing plants specify carbon steel valves rated to API 600 and ASME B16.34 for high-temperature, high-pressure hydrocarbon and ammonia streams. A105N forged valves are selected where NACE MR0175 compliance is required in sour or H₂S-containing streams.

Water Treatment & Distribution

Municipal water works, desalination plants, and irrigation systems use large-bore (NPS 4–36) WCB gate valves and resilient-seated butterfly valves for on/off and throttling service in potable water, raw water, and effluent mains. Carbon steel knife-edge gate valves handle sludge and slurry in wastewater treatment.

Marine, Offshore & LNG

A352 LCB and LCC carbon steel valves are specified for sub-zero ambient service on offshore platforms, LNG loading arms, and regasification terminals. Their minimum design temperature of −46°C makes them a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel for non-cryogenic cold-service duties.

HVAC & Building Services

Carbon steel ball valves and gate valves are widely used in large commercial HVAC systems, district heating networks, and industrial cooling water circuits where steel piping is preferred over copper or plastic.

Duplex 2205 (UNS S31803/S32205) and super duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) differ primarily in alloy content and corrosion resistance. Super duplex grades have higher chromium (25–26%), molybdenum (3.5–5%), and nitrogen (0.24–0.32%) content, giving a PREN > 40 versus 33–38 for standard duplex. Super duplex ball valves are used in the most aggressive chloride environments — seawater, brine, chlorine, and HF service — where standard duplex may pit or crevice corrode. Both grades outperform 316L significantly in corrosive service.

Kalpataru’s duplex stainless steel ball valve range covers Class 150, 300, 600, 800, 900, 1500, and 2500 per ASME B16.34, and 1000 WOG / 2000 WOG for screwed end designs. The actual pressure-temperature rating depends on the specific grade, operating temperature, and connection type. Contact our technical team for derating calculations at elevated temperatures..

Kalpataru supplies duplex ball valve with flanged ends (ASME B16.5, Class 150–2500), threaded ends (NPT per ASME B1.20.1, BSPT per BS 21), socket weld ends (ASME B16.11), and butt weld ends (ASME B16.25). We can also supply valves with combined end connections (e.g., flanged one end, butt weld the other) to customer specifications.

Yes. We supply complete actuated valve packages including pneumatic (double-acting and spring-return), electric quarter-turn, and hydraulic actuators, along with solenoid valves, positioners, limit switches, and junction boxes. Actuated duplex steel valves are available pre-assembled, tested, and tagged for direct installation.
