Kalpataru Piping Solution supplies gate valves for full-bore on/off isolation, where a flat gate lifts clear of the flow so an open valve adds almost no pressure drop. We supply them in two constructions: forged gate valves for small-bore high-pressure lines and cast steel gate valves for larger sizes, in stainless, carbon, alloy and nickel grades. A gate valve is an isolation valve, meant to be fully open or fully closed, not to throttle, which is what keeps its pressure drop low and its seat life long. For regulating flow, a globe valves is the right pattern instead. The construction and grade follow the size, pressure class and service of the line.

Gate Valve Grades & Ratings

Gate valves are supplied in stainless 304 and 316, carbon steel, alloy and nickel grades, in classes 150 through 2500, with the body, trim and seat matched to the service. The grade follows the line: stainless for corrosion, carbon for standard process, alloy for temperature and nickel for aggressive media. End connections are flanged, butt-weld or threaded to match the piping.

Gate vs Globe: When to Use Which

The two are often confused but do opposite jobs. A gate valve isolates: fully open it gives a straight, full-bore path with minimal pressure drop, but it is not designed to control flow and should not be left part-open. A globe valves regulates: its seat controls flow well but adds pressure drop. Use a gate valve to isolate a line and a globe valve to throttle it, and where non-return is needed a check valve does that automatically.

Quality, Testing & Certification

Every gate valve is pressure tested, seat and shell, before dispatch, with an EN 10204 mill test certificate for the body material, heat-number traceable. Positive material identification confirms the grade, NACE MR0175 for sour service and third-party witness through BV, SGS or TUV are arranged at order stage. Common sizes ship quickly; higher classes and alloys are confirmed on enquiry. Send the size, class, grade and construction and the quote comes back with the certification built in.
